HighLevel by industry
Updated 2026-09-19
HighLevel fits a business that wins customers through enquiries, bookings, and follow-up, whatever the industry. The features that carry it differ by trade. Local service businesses get the most from the phone and review tools. Professional practices get the most from the pipeline and documents. Clinics get value only once the compliance add-on is in place. Find your industry below to see the pattern before you open its page.
The pattern by industry
- Real estate: a long-cycle pipeline and SMS follow-up carry it. Skip: courses.
- Insurance: renewal-date workflows and the calendar carry it. Skip: the funnel builder.
- Restaurants: review requests and an SMS list for quiet nights carry it. Skip: the pipeline.
- Plumbers and trades: missed-call text-back and review requests carry it. Skip: funnels and courses.
- Med spas and clinics: booking, reminders, and reactivation carry it, only with the HIPAA add-on. Skip: the funnel builder.
- Nonprofits: a donor pipeline and event calendar carry it, and many small nonprofits should stay on a dedicated donor tool. Skip: SaaS mode.
- Gyms and fitness studios: the trial-to-member pipeline and billing carry it. Skip: courses, unless online programs are sold.
- Dentists: new-patient follow-up and review requests carry it, only with the HIPAA add-on. Skip: the pipeline beyond new patients.
- Lawyers: intake speed and documents carry it. Skip: the social planner.
- Accountants: onboarding and seasonal reminder workflows carry it. Skip: the funnel builder.
- Photographers and creatives: the enquiry pipeline, contracts, and deposits carry it. Skip: courses, unless the studio teaches.
- Software companies: usually the wrong fit. Read the page before buying.
Which plan for one location
Starter fits a single business in any of these industries: $97 a month or $970 billed annually, unlimited contacts and users, three sub-accounts, as at September 2026. A business running more than one location, or an agency running the account for several clients, is the case for Unlimited or Agency Pro, not Starter.
Two conditions that repeat across industries
Registration before volume. Any business that plans to text customers needs to register the sending number before the list grows, not after. The phone and SMS page has the registration types and the per-segment cost, as at September 2026.
The HIPAA condition. A med spa, dental practice, or clinic that stores patient or treatment information needs the compliance add-on in place before that information enters the account. It costs $297 a month, applies to the whole account, and cannot be turned off once bought, as at September 2026. The HIPAA page covers what it does and does not cover.
Where owners get stuck
The industry snapshot is a starting template, not the business's actual process. We have watched an audit of a paid-ads account find that most leads never received any follow-up at all. The tool was not the problem; the missing workflow was. Buying for the industry rather than mapping the business's own enquiry-to-close steps is the mistake that repeats across every vertical on this site.
Questions people ask
Which industries use HighLevel?
Coaches, agencies, local service trades, medical and dental practices, legal and accounting practices, real estate agents, gyms, restaurants, nonprofits, and creative studios are the industries covered on this site, each with the plan and features that apply to it.
Is it right for my type of business?
It fits a business that generates enquiries and needs to follow them up through a pipeline, a calendar, and messaging. It is a weaker fit for a business whose customers come through a marketplace or platform that owns the relationship.
Do I need an industry-specific version?
No. The plans and features are the same across every industry. What differs is which features carry the cost for your business and which ones you can ignore.
Which plan does a single location need?
Starter, in every industry covered on this page, as at September 2026. Move up only when a second location or reselling the platform enters the picture.
Are there industries it does not suit?
Yes. A software company selling by usage data and multi-rep reporting is the clearest case; see the software companies page. A nonprofit with no staff hours to run it is another.
